There’s a reason why they say ‘it is lonely at the top’. As a business owner or CEO, everyone comes to you with concerns and questions. People rely on you to solve problems, grow revenue and set the stage for future success.
One of greatest paths to business success and overcoming ‘going it alone’ is for CEOs and owners to have a solid, reliable group of peers to work with – to share a common vision, solve problems, hold each other accountable to their goals and create and develop new ideas together.
Proverbs says that “without council plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.”
Brandon McLaren, Owner of Electrical Diagnostic Surveys located in Charlotte, NC clearly understands the benefits of rich, diverse input from experienced, Christian CEOs and owners who are reliable, trustworthy and share the same passion in business and faith. He shared, “We don’t know, what we don’t know. As an owner of a business, you need to constantly learn and keep pace, and surround yourself with people who understand what it’s like to run a business – people who inspire you to be accountable.”
Knowing that God has called him to steward the business; and that his leadership has eternal significance is among the many reasons why McLaren joined the Charlotte C12 Group. Beyond executive coaching and peer sharpening, C12 Group offers McLaren a unique, Christ-centered approach to running a business that honors God.
“Every month, in my C12 Group, we focus on C12’s high-level business management material that is designed for the Christian-business owner, created through a Biblical perspective,” McLaren explained.
Together with the trusted counsel of other Christian-minded business leaders, he can speak openly about issues and ideas in a safe environment. C12 members are united in the pursuit of building great business for a greater purpose and have a strong desire to see each other succeed in business, their faith journey, and family relationships.
In addition to meeting in a non-competitive forum with 12 other area business leaders, McLaren has a monthly face-to-face session with his C12 Chair, Tony Tennaro to help set personal and professional goals.
Aligning Priorities with Scriptual Wisdom
As highly respected Arc Flash and compliance experts, McLaren has to keep focus on quality and accountability. McLaren’s company analyzes safety and Arc Flash compliance requirements as well as train staff in the areas of safety procedures to eliminate hazards at industrial facilities nationwide. If an arc flash were to occur, a flashover of electric current leaves its intended path and travels through the air from one conductor to another, or to ground. The results are often violent and for those in close proximity to the arc flash, serious injury, burns and even death can occur.
“Hundreds of deaths and thousands of disabling electrical injuries occur on the job each year, and most injuries could have been prevented by implementing Arc Flash compliance,” stated McLaren. “Our goal is to ensure optimal safety and compliance.”
The inspiration, instruction, and unique perspective McLaren gains within his C12 Group delivers the kind of accountability all executives and owners need, regardless of industry or size. In addition, C12 Group is helping McLaren crystallize a long-term vision for the business while equipping him with ideas to better integrate work/faith and fruitful ministry.
“You don’t have to be on an island on your own. There are others in business just like you, who understand the challenges and rewards you face, they want to celebrate with you, and pray with you and be a trusting sounding board. C12 Group continually reminds me of the focus and purpose of my life and this business,” shared McLaren.
