Grilling Chickens brings Eagle Award for Statesville Businessman

Jeff Harvey, President of Harvey Holdings, LLC, Statesville, NC, received the first C12 Group Greater Charlotte Eagle Award. Presented by Managing Chair, Tony Tennaro C12 Group Greater Charlotte, this prestigious award symbolizes the characteristics and qualities of the eagle. According to Tennaro, “Jeff has clearly demonstrated his worthiness to be the first member to receive this award. His Statesville based businesses have not only survived, but thrived during the past five years.”

Holland Transportation Management Services Inc started with an idea and 3 employees. Today it is an Inc 500 business. During this time, Holland Transfer Co, a 100+ year old business, has remade itself into a profitable, sustainable enterprise. And Statesville Distribution Services consistently grew, offering warehousing and logistics services to companies across the nation. “We’re expanding in all areas,” said Harvey as he talked about the future.

But when he talks about what the people of these businesses have been able to do to serve those who need it most, Harvey really lights up. Grill For God ( www.grillforgod.com ) became Jeff Harvey’s passion. Started in 2008, it began with a small group of Harvey Holdings employees grilling for Priority House, a Statesville men’s shelter. Grill for God was born and as a incorporated non-profit enterprise G4G Ministries has now served thousands of chicken dinners and worked to provide hope to those who need it most. “We have a big vision for this effort”, said Harvey as he explained the move to add medical services, legal services and more to the grilling and serving of those chicken dinners. “Serving the least of these serves our Lord and we plan to strategically focus on this mission as we do any other part of our business,” Harvey stated.

When describing the naming of the award, Tennaro said, “The Eagle Award has special meaning. Eagles have certain unique characteristics and qualities. They love to fly high. They aim to reach greater heights. Their vision is very sharp and clear. Eagles are courageous. Jeff and the people of Harvey Holdings are great examples of what can be done when vision meets action.”

Who would have thought that being around all those chickens would turn Jeff Harvey and his team of employees into Eagles!

Business owners in Greater Charlotte are meeting in Advisory Roundtable Groups to encourage each other, share learning and experiences, provide sound counsel and accountability as part of the national organization C12 Group. The C12 Group is the leading resource for Christian business owners, presidents and CEO’s with the stated purpose of “Building Great Businesses for a Greater Purpose!”

Members say, “It’s a great time of learning, encouraging and accountability.” At a time when so much of the news about corporate America can be negative, C12 stresses integrity, excellence and character by applying Biblical principles in the daily decisions of serving customers, stewarding resources, building up employees and dealing fairly with suppliers.
